So, the other day, I filled both of the hummingbird feeders with the red nectar stuff that I add water to. One feeder in front and one in back yard.
The next morning, I look out the back door to see ... an empty hummingbird feeder. What? I just filled that.
Now, it was windy over night. But wind never caused this before. I did see the ground below was damp. Maybe a leak. Well, soon, I figured it out when the culprit returned to the scene of the crime.
It was Professor Nuthunter.
In the back yard.
With it's paws.
A squirrel climbed the small tree the feeder hung from. Reached down and grabbed the feeder, stuck his mouth to one of the openings for the hummingbird's beak... tilted the feeder and had a cocktail.
On the one hand, that was annoying. I just filled it for the hummingbirds.
Then it was also... admiration for the smart little fellow who figured out what was in the feeder and how to partake.
Nature. Gotta love it.

Go you must
No guest
Shall stay long
In one place forever
Love will be lost
If you sit too long
At a friend’s fire.
