Over a year ago... I learned about a 16 year old boy who was about to venture on a solo sailing trip around the world. His name is Zac Sunderland. I called him Adventure Boy. Click here for my first post about him.
Well... it is now 13 months after his departure and he is home again in California. He sailed across the Pacific, stopping in Hawaii. He stopped in the Phillipines and Australia. He crossed the Indian Ocean and around South Africa. He crossed the Atlantic and the Panama Canal. He stopped at many ports and saw many many cultures that were so different from what he grew up in. All in a year.
He has become the youngest sailor to go around the globe solo. He was 16 when he started. He is 17 now. I wonder if his parents will let him get his driver's license now.
Here's a link to his website. Check it out. This amazing young man has dared to dream and make his dream come true. He had his very own world adventure. I feel privileged to have read about his journey every day on his blog... thanks to the advances in information tech.
And there's another teen on his own solo world sailing trip... Mike Perham of the UK... he sailed down the Atlantic, around the tip of Africa, across the Indian Ocean to Australia, across the Pacific to the Panama Canal ... where he is currently. Another 16 year old. Mike and Zac actually got to meet in South Africa. Both on world adventures... nobody else could understand except each other. I hope they keep in touch. Mike's website can be found by clicking here.
And I'm still wondering what my world adventure would look like.

Go you must
No guest
Shall stay long
In one place forever
Love will be lost
If you sit too long
At a friend’s fire.
