Is pink the new gay?

Is pink the new gay?

So, there is this advertisement showing a mom and a little boy. The boy's toenails are pink.

OH MY GAWD!

Before I continue, let me clarify one little thing... I'm a gay man in my forties and nobody painted my toe nails.

So, from what I hear... one of the things expressed is that he's going to need therapy. I don't get it. This kid looks young enough to probably forget about it in a few years. Lord knows, I'd be paying a fortune if every photo taken of me as a toddler was a vivid memory.

And what's wrong with pink? Aren't pink ribbons used to promote support and education regarding breast cancer? Isn't pink one of the primary colors for love (hello... Valentine's Day would be pretty boring without variations of the color red)? And aren't hot neon pink shoe laces fabulous?

Pink doesn't turn people gay. I may love pink to death... but it wasn't what turned me gay. That is reserved for the erection I got in 9th grade looking at a photo spread of men in underwear in a copy of Cosmopolitan magazine. COSMO made me gay, not the color pink.

Besides... the real controversy hasn't yet been addressed. Isn't it obvious?

The photo might be ammunition for future embarrassing of the son when he brings home his future husband or future wife or both. Not to mention the kids they'll have... "Look what your Dad let me do to him when he was your age!"

Just like the slogan back in the seventies (gay is good)...

Pink is good.

Go you must

Shall stay long
In one place forever
Love will be lost
If you sit too long
At a friend’s fire.
