Stops along the way - childhood

1. St. Michael's hospital in Milwaukee, WI... the very first place I went in my entire life... yup... my birthplace. December, 1965.

2. Gulf of Mexico... I waded in the Gulf during a family trip to Houston, TX. Circa 1967 or 1968.

3. Five and Dime on Capital Dr in Milwaukee... where my mother would buy me Matchbox cars. Late 1960s.

4. Kurtz Avenue in Green Bay... where my grandparents lived and my family moved to in the early seventies. It is where I grew up from first grade on. 1972 through 2000.

5. Joannes Park in Green Bay... quite literally my backyard playground, all I had to do was go out the back door. 1970s.

6. Roosevelt Elementary School in Green Bay. My grade school. It was also my mother's grade school. Last I saw it was a parking lot. I've got a brick from the rubble when they tore it down. 1971-1978.

7. Bay Beach Park in Green Bay. Bumper cars, ferris wheel, kiddie train... and on the Fourth of July... fireworks. 1970s.

8. Nicolet National Forest. Family trips to my Aunt Arleen's cottage at Trump Lake outside Wabeno, WI. We'd take day trips to Laona, WI and Silver Lake where my other Aunt once lived and my mother spent summers in her youth. 1970s.

9. Gigot Pharmacy in Green Bay. One of my comic book suppliers in grade school and junior high. I was such a regular they even let me help unpack the new comics when they came in. 1970s.

10. The Christmas windows at Penney's and Prange's (two downtown Green Bay department stores). I'm still enthralled by Christmas windows. 1970s.

Go you must

Shall stay long
In one place forever
Love will be lost
If you sit too long
At a friend’s fire.
